Heritage variety. From the early 20th century. Decorative, ribbed, flat-round, deep red beefsteak tomatoes weighing about 100 grams. Italian beefsteak tomato with juicy, flavorful fruits, excellent for pasta sauces and preserving. Ideal for cultivation in greenhouses or warm, sheltered outdoor locations. Requires staking.
Cultivation from seed:
Start indoors in pots from February to April. Fill the pots with 2/3 potting soil and 1/3 seed compost on top. Keep the seedlings at 22-25°C, and after germination, maintain at 18-20°C with as much light as possible. Transplant after hardening off in a greenhouse or warm outdoor location once the risk of frost has passed. Stake the plants. Remove side shoots.
