Watermelon 'Sugar Baby'
Citrullus lanatus
Round, dark blue-green fruits weighing 2-4 kg with juicy, red flesh. A small-fruited variety, approximately 25 cm in diameter. An early and reliable variety, suitable for Nordic climates. Grows best in a warm location in a greenhouse, cold frame, or sheltered outdoor spot.
 
Growing from seed:
Start indoors in potting soil. Cover with transparent lid with air holes, or ventilate regularly. Keep at about 25°C (77°F); after germination, reduce to about 20°C (68°F). Requires warmth for optimal growth. Grown in a greenhouse, cold frame, or warm outdoor location. Ripe fruits have a distinct melon fragrance, and the stem will crack at the fruit attachment point.
