Spinacia oleraceaLarge, dark green leaves. Suitable for cultivation throughout the season. Slow to bolt and highly resistant to downy mildew. Can be used fresh, cooked, or creamed. Freezes well.
Growing from seed:
Sow directly outdoors as soon as the soil is workable. Water the soil before sowing and keep it moist during germination. Sow in succession for a continuous harvest throughout the season, but take a break in July as the plants are more prone to bolting. Harvest leaves continuously. Can also be sown in autumn for an early spring harvest.
